More blogging on the Institutes....

My, there is much being presently said, written, and blogged regarding the life and works of John Calvin as the Church celebrates the 500th birthday of the great Genevan Reformer. A friend of mine is blogging some of his reflections on The Institutes as he reads through them again this year. His posts are fairly short, easy to read, and very helpful. Here is what he has so far:

Reflection #1 “Unless they establish their complete happiness in Him, they will never give themselves truly and sincerely to Him.” Institutes, Book I. Chapter 2.1

Reflection #2 “Besides, this mind [pious mind] restrains itself from sinning, not out of dread of punishment alone; but because it loves and reveres God as Father, it worships and adores him as Lord.” - Book I. Chapt.3.2
