Christ to Return in May of Next Year

So Harold Camping is at it again. Jesus is to return on May 21, 2011. Here is how he calculated the date (I have also provided a video demonstration below). As Kim Riddlebarger commented "You thought dispensationalism was complicated." Not as complicated as this. Well, we can all now be sure of a date that Jesus won't return.

The method to Camping's madness:

The number 5, Camping concluded, equals "atonement." Ten is "completeness." Seventeen means "heaven." Camping patiently explained how he reached his conclusion for May 21, 2011.

"Christ hung on the cross April 1, 33 A.D.," he began. "Now go to April 1 of 2011 A.D., and that's 1,978 years."

Camping then multiplied 1,978 by 365.2422 days - the number of days in each solar year, not to be confused with a calendar year.

Next, Camping noted that April 1 to May 21 encompasses 51 days. Add 51 to the sum of previous multiplication total, and it equals 722,500.

Camping realized that (5 x 10 x 17) x (5 x 10 x 17) = 722,500.

Or put into words: (Atonement x Completeness x Heaven), squared.

"Five times 10 times 17 is telling you a story," Camping said. "It's the story from the time Christ made payment for your sins until you're completely saved.

"I tell ya, I just about fell off my chair when I realized that," Camping said.

Btw, I've heard that his last prediction was 1994. Word has it that didn't turn out so well.

The TV is My Shepherd

HT: Thabiti

The TV is my shepherd,
I shall want more.
It makes me lie down on the sofa.
It leads me away from the faith;
It destroys my soul.
It leads me in the path of sex and violence
for the sponsor's sake.
Yeah, though I walk in the shadow of Christian responsibility,
there will be no interruption, for the TV is with me.
It's cables and remote control, they comfort me.
It prepares a commercial for me in the presence of my worldliness;
It anoints my head with humanism and consumerism;
My coveting runneth over.
Surely, laziness and ignorance shall follow me all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house watching TV for ever.

This is probably more true of the internet now.

Camdyn says the darndest things

From the time he began to speak, our oldest son has been known for his choice of words. Terms and phrases have come and gone with the seasons for the last four years and we always wonder what catchphrase, mispronunciation, and/or new word is coming next. We even have friends who help us to remember these by often reciting these "Camdyn-isms."

Tonight, I overheard Camdyn talking to his stuffed cow, Alvin. He called him an "Alvinist."

Sunday Entertainment

I've seen this guy a few times. He works for Liberty Tax Service. On Sunday afternoon we were able to catch this video at a nearby traffic light.

Its heating up!

The weather this week has been gorgeous! I noticed many at the beach today on one of the local islands. I saw the picture below some time ago. It keeps me from getting too excited about swimming.

a little bit of Cayde

Last weekend we spent part of the day with Christen's family. Cayde loves the ducks at Poppy and Nonny's house.

That was just a little before dinner. After dinner Cayde came up behind me as I was sitting on the steps. He wanted up on my shoulders so I reached back to pull him up and pulled his elbow out of joint in the process. Fortunately, they told us at the ER this was very common and they had his arm back in place before we could even anticipate what they were about to do. Cayde was immediately back to normal.

On the way to church Christen took a picture of these massive things (whatever they are). I think they play some part in loading/unloading cargo from the ships that come in. They are known to us as the dinosaurs and have become the highlight of our drive to Jacksonville.

Tribute to American Pelagianism

Because we pull ourselves up by our own bootstraps and Get-R-Done. Of course, I meant this to be humorous, but it does serve to show us what we actually believe and how the Gospel is so radically different to our thought.
