With memorial day being yesterday, it seemed that all weekend there was the feeling of patriotism in the air. I thank God for those who have given their lives so that I might enjoy the liberty I have today. I pray that God would let me reflect more and more on the price that was paid for our freedom in this great nation.
Yesterday I was thinking just how good it is to be an American. I thank the Lord for allowing me to be born in this country; there is no other place I would want to be if I had my choice. The Lord has blessed the good 'ol USA but I am not sure about what lies ahead for our nation.
On Friday night we attended a baseball game where "God bless America" was sung. "Yes Lord, bless America," I thought. "Shower us with grace and grant us repentance to turn back to you."
That is America's only hope; to turn back to the God who birthed our freedom. We need God to send the rain of revival to our land. We need a spiritual and moral awakening or else judgment is sure and it will be swift.
I was reminded how far we have strayed when Sunday morning we sang the last stanza of "My Country tis of Thee."
Our fathers' God to Thee, Author of liberty, to Thee we sing: Long may our land be bright with freedom's holy light; protect us by Thy might, Great God, our King!
Oh, God, help us to turn back before it is too late. Send revival in these last days and be known in our nation once again!
