Christ Centered Preaching

One question every preacher and listener needs to ask when hearing the Lord's Day sermon: Would this be true if Christ had not died?

What sets our message apart if it is not saturated with the Gospel of Jesus Christ? To casually mention Jesus as the one who merely helps us accomplish our goals is not Christian at all. God forbid we ever preach a sermon that would be the same if Christ was never crucified. If Christian preaching is not proclaiming Christ alone crucified then it is not Christian preaching; it falls into the same broad category that would include Mormons and motivational speakers.
