The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. (Psalms 19:1)
One thing that has consumed my mind over the past few weeks is the glory of God in His creation. I have been so fascinated over things that once seemed so insignificant to me. Often when I stand outside in the blazing heat of the sun I can only think of how I will one day be in the presence of a God whose radiance puts the sun to shame. When a thunder storm approaches I can only think of the wrath of a Holy God that was appeased when Christ bore my sin on the cross. When I look at the stars hanging in the sky at night I am left in awe and must direct all my admiration upon the God who spoke them into existence. Everything in creation points to one thing and that is the glory of God. Despite the revelation of God through nature there was a point in all of our lives when we failed to glorify the true God. We went about in our daily lives enjoying all the gifts and blessings given by God in His creation, but refused to cast our eyes beyond the obvious and glorify the Creator. As in Romans 1, we suppressed the truth and exchanged it for a lie. We took the truth and twisted it, and made for ourselves who we wanted God to be. We didn’t want Him as Lord of our lives.
